Monster Monday & A Mark Twain Announcement

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.” —Mark Twain, 1857

Being in total agreement with the wise (and often wonderfully irreverent) Mr. Twain, I've been planning to do a little prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness slaying of my own. I took the biggest step yesterday by booking this:

And am now doing nothing but trying to breathe, breathe, breathe. The levels of excitement, nerves, joy and terror are overwhelming.

After completing undergrad in December, I'll be running around Rishikesh, Dehradun and a few other cities in north India, teaching English and computer skills to middle schoolers (I'm sure they'll teach me a thing or two, as well), exploring the Himalayas and maybe even leaving some footprints in Nepal.

Is this my life?

The best part is that yes, it really is. And it is awesome.

Updates--and more importantly, loads of questions--to come as the date approaches. Right now, just going to keep breathing.

PS: I hear that unRonic has trained this little critter to actually tolerate being picked up and cuddled. Can't wait to test out the new trick in a few weeks.

Excuse me, I'm trying to bathe back here.
